Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayTyson Fury has reversed his previous stance on a fight with Agit Kabayel, revealing that the unbeaten German would be his next target if a showdown with Anthony Joshua falls through.
“If [Usyk] pulls out of the fight with Kabayel, then I’m in with Kabayel. So if the Joshua fight doesn’t happen, for whatever reason, then I’ll get my shot at [becoming a three-time world champion] against Kabayel. And I’ll take it to Wembley,” said Fury to iFL TV.
The comments mark a significant change from Fury’s position earlier this year, when he insisted he would not fight either Kabayel or Joseph Parker because of his friendship with both men.
“They are my two brothers. They are both lovely guys, and they are both future world heavyweight champions. Agit Kabayel and Joseph Parker,” said Fury.
“I wish them all the very best in the world, and I won’t fight either man for any amount of money because some things ain’t worth fighting for.”
Kabayel currently holds the WBC interim heavyweight title and is in line for a shot at Oleksandr Usyk. The heavyweight division is waiting to see if Usyk will fulfill that obligation or pursue another fight.
Fury and Anthony Joshua are still expected to meet after completing separate tune-up bouts. Joshua faces Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Jeddah, while Fury is scheduled to return in August.
If either man fails to reach the long-discussed British heavyweight showdown, Fury has now identified Kabayel as the alternative route toward another world-title opportunity.
