Sean Strickland

Current and two-time middleweight champion Sean Strickland may vacate his strap and move up to 205 pounds to fight out his UFC contract.

As per reports, “Tarzan” turned down a title fight against top contender Nassourdine Imavov at UFC 335 after allegedly being unhappy with his proposed pay. Hence, the company decided to announce a BMF title fight between Charles Oliveira and Diego Lopes to headline the aforementioned numbered event.

Sean Strickland Threatens to Leave Middleweight and Move to 205 Over UFC Pay

Sean Strickland has now opened up about his situation and revealed that he is unhappy with the UFC brass and pay and is thus considering moving up to 205 pounds to fight out his contract. Once he becomes a free agent, Strickland says he would love to box YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. “Tarzan” posted on X:

“I gotta be honest, unless things change with the UFC I’m kinda over it. McGregor makes 30 million to fight for 30 seconds, and they don’t want to pay us a fraction of it. Contemplating just going to 205, knocking out my contract and scrapping with @jakepaul. That sounds fun.”

Strickland also pointed out how much Conor McGregor and Conor Benn reportedly made from a single fight, whereas he has not even been offered a fraction of that amount.

“It’s just hard McGregor 30 million Some lame boxer 15 million. The thought of just giving up my belt, going to 205, and speed-running my contract to fight Jake and make what these guys are making sounds pretty damn appealing.”

“The Sniper,” on the other hand, is ready to pay Sean Strickland $500K, if the latter beats him in Jan 2027. If “Tarzan” still does not want to fight him, Imavov has asked the UFC to strip Strickland.

“😂😂😂 If it’s really about money, I’ll put $500K of my own money on the line if you beat me in January @SStricklandMMA putting this on record If you still don’t take it, then you’re just scared. I’ll handle you outside. @ufc THIS is your champ? Come on STRIP HIM #NoHappyEnding”
