With every big game improving Sal Stewart's chances at being named the National League Rookie of the Year, the Cincinnati Reds' first-year sensation hit two massive home runs on Wednesday night. 

Stewart went yard twice as the Reds beat the Philadelphia Phillies 11-5. His first home run tied the game at 2-2 and came with one base runner aboard and one out in the third inning. He then did it again, going opposite field an inning later.

Stewart's pair of home runs marked the second multi-homer game of his career - he also sent two pitches over the fence in the same game back on April 15th. 

And with 19 on the year, Stewart, 22, made franchise history with those two swings of the bat. He now has the Reds rookie record for the most home runs before the All-Star break, passing the legendary Frank Robinson. 

Overall, Stewart also has the second most home runs ever hit by a Reds rookie in the team's first 91 games, only sitting behind Robinson's 22 from 1956.  

Stewart is among the favorites in the National League Rookie of the Year race 

In those 91 games and 347 at-bats, Stewart's Rookie of the Year case includes being one shy of 20 home runs by July 8, 64 RBIs, 89 hits, 21 doubles, 50 runs scored, 45 walks and even 11 stolen bases. 

Named an All-Star as a rookie, Stewart's slash line consists of a .256 batting average, a .335 OBP and a .490 slug. 

He did appear in 18 games in 2025, recording five home runs, eight RBIs, 14 hits, 11 runs and a .255 clip. 

And while a great rookie season doesn't guarantee a successful full career, the Reds can take comfort in knowing they have their third baseman of the future already crushing it in the big leagues.
