Denver Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook will decline his $3.4 million player option for next season and will opt for free agency. Westbrook signed a two-year, veteran minimum contract with the Nuggets last season, which included a player option for the 2025-26 season.

In 75 games (36 starts), the veteran point guard averaged 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Westbrook was a key reserve for the Nuggets most nights and started when Jamal Murray or Michael Porter Jr. were sidelined this season.

Following the Nuggets second-round loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Westbrook said he was undecided on his playing future. By declining his option and opting for free agency this summer, Westbrook has given the indication that he plans to continue playing for a 18th NBA season.
