BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing has reshuffled the top of its October 10 Newcastle card, with Rolando “Dy Incredible” Dy now defending the BKB Super Welterweight World Championship against Scott “The Mute” McHugh in the BKB 60 main event. The show takes place at Utilita Arena Newcastle, marking BKB’s first event in the city.

The original heavyweight headliner, Mick Terrill vs. Kamil Sokolowski, is off after Terrill suffered a cut during a late-notice fight with BKB heavyweight champion Gustavo Trujillo. Terrill is expected to attend as a special guest instead of competing.

Rolando Dy vs. Scott McHugh for BKB 60

Dy enters with a 6-1 BKB record and five knockouts. The Filipino champion is the son of former WBC world titleholder Rolando Navarrete and became the first fighter from the Philippines to win a BKB world championship when he beat Liam Rees for the super welterweight belt. His title reign continued with a second-round stoppage of Paulie Malignaggi in Manchester.

Malignaggi, a former two-division boxing world champion, was making his own move into the bare-knuckle format, but Dy’s pressure and finishing work ended the contest early. Now Dy moves from the supporting slot to the marquee fight in Newcastle, putting the Police Gazette Diamond Belt on the line against a fighter with one of the longer records in the promotion.

McHugh is listed at 17-5 with seven knockouts, carries a five-fight winning streak, and has three knockouts during that run. The Leeds fighter is a five-time BKB champion and a Bare Knuckle Hall of Fame inductee, bringing more than 20 professional bare-knuckle bouts to the title challenge. Earlier BKB material described him as a three-time world champion, reflecting the titles accumulated across his career.

It is a useful matchup for a first Newcastle show: Dy has become one of BKB’s international titleholders, while McHugh brings UK experience and a record built through long stretches of bare-knuckle competition. The bout also gives McHugh a chance to add a new world title to his collection in front of a British audience.

Terrill had been set to headline in his home region against Polish heavyweight Sokolowski. He was coming off a major stretch that included winning the inaugural BKFC UK heavyweight title at the same arena in March, while Sokolowski arrived with a reputation as a durable gloved-boxing veteran who has shared rings with names including Dillian Whyte, Martin Bakole, Otto Wallin and Frazer Clarke.

That matchup has now been removed from BKB 60 after Terrill stepped in against Trujillo with fewer than three days’ notice while already travelling to Miami for promotional duties. BKB said the resulting cut will not heal in time for October 10. The change leaves Dy-McHugh as the main event and removes Sokolowski from the announced lineup.

Terrill’s absence is disappointing for the local crowd, but his planned appearance at the arena should keep the Newcastle favorite part of the night. His future target remains Trujillo, BKB’s unbeaten heavyweight champion.

The co-main event features Scotland’s David Winiarski against Wales’ Keiron Harding in a super middleweight rematch. Winiarski is 7-1 with seven knockouts, while Harding is 3-0 with three stoppages. Their first meeting at BKB 49, “Dance of the Dragons,” was named Fight of the Night.

Harding won by third-round TKO after a doctor’s stoppage, creating a clear reason for the rematch. The first fight was competitive enough to leave unfinished business. Winiarski’s record shows that he can end a fight quickly, but Harding has yet to lose and carries momentum from the initial meeting. Their return gives the Newcastle card a second contest with direct history behind it.

Former IBF world champion Joseph “JoJo” Diaz Jr. is also scheduled to compete at super lightweight against an opponent still to be announced. Diaz is 1-0 in BKB after stopping Nate Williams in the first round at BKB 56 in Los Angeles. His debut ended on a body shot, and BKB 60 will be his second appearance in the Trigon, the promotion’s three-sided fighting enclosure.

Adel Altamimi is booked for a super welterweight bout against a TBA opponent. The Baghdad-born, Los Angeles-based fighter is 3-0 with three knockouts and previously produced a Fight of the Night outing at BKB 57 after opening his BKB run with a knockout in London. The preliminary card includes Jon Telfer vs. Hector Galbraith at super lightweight, Liam Teruel vs. Tom Pratt at light heavyweight, and John Hamilton vs. Florian De La Motte at heavyweight.

BKB 60 begins with preliminaries at 5:30 p.m. BST on TikTok, followed by the main card at 7 p.m. BST. The event is scheduled for Vice TV and Telemundo in the United States, plus talkSPORT in the UK and Ireland.
