Daniel is an experienced football writer and editor, having worked in the football media industry for over a decade. 

After voluntarily writing for Fresh Press for two years, helping to build and establish the Read brand, Daniel started a part-time job with Fresh Press that later turned into a full-time writing and editing role, writing for club-specific pages such as Read Norwich, Read Celtic, Read Liverpool, and Read Arsenal.

Daniel spent just shy of a year writing and editing for Liverpool-based website, Anfield Watch, which included conducting and/or transcribing interviews with Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, former Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, and journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Since the summer of 2021, Daniel has worked for Snack Media (now Valnet) and has been a contributor to Football FanCast, on a freelance and full-time basis, as a writer and editor. 

Daniel is a Norwich City fan and season ticket holder. He has been heard on BBC Norfolk and helped DAZN with research for their commentary due to his knowledge of the club, along with being featured in several local papers across the country, including the Coventry Telegraph and the Liverpool Echo, for Norwich-related content. 

Daniel's knowledge extends to Scottish football, having covered Celtic and Rangers for several years. He particularly enjoys producing player analysis and producing transfer content.

The Portuguese forward has been out of action since sustaining an ACL injury in April 2025, and is expected to be back in training in the coming weeks as he looks to make a return to the pitch this season.

Whilst it remains to be seen when Jota will be available to start matches for Martin O'Neill in the Scottish Premiership, the Hoops are pressing on in their search for attacking reinforcements.

They have agreed a deal worth more than £11m to sign Kasper Hogh from Bodo/Glimt and have agreed personal terms with Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan, who is valued at around £7.7m.

How Celtic's attack could line up after signing Hogh

It will be intriguing to see how O'Neill decides to set his Celtic team up in the 2026/27 campaign, as the Scottish giants have already signed £6m striker Camilo Duran.

The Colombian forward has scored three goals in three pre-season matches for the Hoops since his move from Qarabag, but he is a versatile attacker who has played on the right and the left flank in his club career.

Celtic could, therefore, opt to go with Hogh as the main man in the number nine position, as he is a traditional centre-forward, whilst Hassan could come in as a right-sided option, cutting in on his left foot to make things happen at the top end of the pitch.

Duran and the Bodo/Glimt attacker both caught the eye in the Champions League for their respective teams last season, each netting five times in the competition, and could form an exciting rotation in the number nine role.

Whilst Duran can play in other positions other than striker, he is not a natural on the left flank and that means that there may still be a starting berth available on the left, with Hogh and Hassan starting in the other two roles.

Why Celtic must sign £13m star after Hogh and Hassan

Jota could take that place on the left flank when he is eventually back in contention, but the club are also looking to sign a player who could be their next version of the Portuguese ace.

ExWhuEmployee, reporting for The West Ham Way, has revealed that Celtic are preparing to move ahead of West Ham United in the race to sign Lazio forward Matteo Cancellieri.

The insider claims that the Hammers are eyeing up a move for the Italy international to bolster their attack for the Championship, but that the Hoops are now aiming to step up their interest in the versatile winger.

Cancellieri has one year left on his contract with the Italian side and previous reports have suggested that a fee of around £13m could be needed to secure his services.

Supporters may look at the fact that he only scored four goals in 35 appearances for Lazio as a winger last season and wonder what kind of impact that he could have at Parkhead, but you only have to look at Jota's career to see the path to success in Glasgow.

The Portuguese attacker only scored two goals in 34 first-team matches for Benfica before his initial move to Celtic under Ange Postecoglou, yet the Hoops were able to help him fulfill his potential after he had impressed at youth level previously.

That could also be the case for Cancellieri if he joins the Scottish giants this summer, because he was a prolific scorer at youth level before breaking into the first-team.

The one-cap Italy international has only scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 125 appearances in his Serie A career to date, but he did score 19 goals in 23 games for Roma's U17s and 17 goals in 23 matches for Hellas Verona's reserve team.

Cancellieri, who can play on the left or the right flank, has the potential to offer a huge threat as a goalscorer if Celtic can help him to finally carry his youth form over to the first-team, as they did with Jota when they signed him from Benfica.

The 24-year-old attacker may not seem like a marquee signing on paper, due to his underwhelming output with Lazio, but the potential is there for him to emerge as the club's next version of Jota, possibly completing O'Neill's front three alongside Hogh and Hassan.

That is why the Hoops may want to sign him this summer, because they can see that there is scope for him to offer more than he did for the Serie A side last term.
