UFC star Paddy Pimblett has explained why he’s open to fighting anyone in the lightweight division as he looks to the future.

In mixed martial arts, it’s important to have a proper persona behind you if you are going to be a superstar in the sport. Paddy Pimblett is a great example of that, with the Liverpudlian being a real fan favorite, whether it be because of his fight style, his walkout, or just the way in which he sells fights.

After his most recent win, Paddy Pimblett is hunting down a title opportunity, but the current expectation from many is that Justin Gaethje will defend the UFC lightweight championship against either Arman Tsarukyan or Ilia Topuria in his next fight.

In a recent interview, Paddy Pimblett had the following to say about the state of his division and who he would be interested in facing, specifically noting Tsarukyan’s win over Mauricio Ruffy.

Paddy Pimblett’s eyes are on the prize

“Ruffy is good, but he’s ranked [No] 7,” he said.

“I’ve just beat ranked [No] 5, so since UFC 300, he hasn’t beat anyone ranked higher than I’ve beat in over two years, but somehow, he’s next for the title?”

“It’s one of them,” he added.

“I’ll just fight whoever’s name gets put on a contract to me. I don’t turn down any fights.

“I’ve never turned down a fight. If Arman gets offered to me, I’ll fight him. If Ilia gets offered to me, I’ll fight him.

“If Charles [Oliveira], if Justin, I’ll fight anyone. I don’t care.”

Paddy has the potential to become a world champion, but it’s safe to say that things are getting pretty crowded at 155 pounds in the title picture.
