Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe Denver Nuggets have no intention of blowing up their roster and starting over. However, the Nuggets are expected to trim some salary heading into next season.
Jonas Valanciunas isn't expected to be back in Denver next season. Valanciunas' $10 million contract is only guaranteed for $2 million prior to July 8. The Nuggets are expected to trade Valanciunas to a team that is willing to that $2 million guarantee, or Denver will waive Valanciunas and save $8 million before his deal becomes fully guaranteed.
The Nuggets may also explore trading Zeke Nnaji, who has a fully guaranteed $7.5 million deal. Denver could also look to trade Cameron Johnson in a salary-shedding deal. Johnson is heading into the final season of his contract at $23.1 million.
Denver will also face tough decisions with Peyton Watson and Spencer Jones, who are both restricted free agents this summer. Having their restricted rights gives the Nuggets a leg up on retaining either Watson or Jones. But the team's financial situation with the tax and aprons could force their hand, should either player receive a large offer sheet from another team.
