Nottingham Forest are facing a huge summer after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League, with Vitor Pereira now expected to oversee a significant rebuild ahead of next season.
Pereira’s arrival seriously helped steady performances during a difficult period, but the club still endured a stressful run-in and finished only just above the relegation places after a year marked by inconsistency and a managerial merry-go-round.
Forest are expected to target experienced players this summer as they look to avoid another relegation battle next season.

Wide attacking areas are believed to be one of the priorities, particularly with the club wanting greater depth, energy and versatility in forward positions.
One player now strongly linked is Galatasaray's Roland Sallai.
Nottingham Forest line up move for 'ambitious' Roland Sallai
According to Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke, Forest are preparing what has been described as an “ambitious” move for the Hungary international.
However, Galatasaray are reportedly desperate to keep hold of the versatile wide player following his impressive performances in Turkey.
Sallai joined Galatasaray in 2024 after several productive seasons with Freiburg in the Bundesliga. Since moving to Istanbul, he has continued to build his reputation as a hard-working player capable of playing on either flank or through central attacking positions.
Those qualitie may well appeal to Pereira as he reshapes the squad.
His extensive international experience with Hungary is also a major positive, with Sallai mainly excelling as a makeshift right-back under Okan Buruk this term.
Interest in Sallai from England is not entirely new.
Back in 2024, Sky Sports Germany reported that Leeds United held talks over a possible move for the 29-year-old.
Leeds were searching for attacking reinforcements at the time and saw Sallai as a player capable of adding flexibility and experience to their forward line.
Ultimately, though, no agreement was reached and Sallai completed a move to Galatasaray instead.
Since then, his stock has continued to rise.
Roland Sallai for Hungary.
Sallai has become an important figure for both Galatasaray and the Hungary national team, impressing with his work rate, pressing intensity and ability to contribute from wide positions.
Forest would likely need to make a substantial offer if they want to persuade Galatasaray to negotiate, which could be up to around £21 million, according to other reports.
Whether Sallai ultimately leaves Turkey remains uncertain, but Forest’s interest highlights the scale of the rebuild Pereira is preparing for.
After surviving by narrow margins last season, the priority now is making sure the club are not dragged back into the same battle again.
