Newcastle United are now expected to lose another big name this summer and could see Aston Villa swoop in to deal them an added blow.

If the Magpies thought last summer was difficult, then they'll already be desperate for deadline day to arrive this time around. Anthony Gordon has already left for big money to Barcelona, Sandro Tonali and Lewis Hall could be next, and Liverpool have just hijacked the club's top target. It's Groundhog Day for Eddie Howe.

Without Champions League football to offer these days, either, it could prove to be far more difficult to lure targets to St James' Park, having already missed out on Victor Munoz.

It also makes keeping hold of star names increasingly difficult. With Hall reportedly blaming Howe for missing out on a World Cup spot and attracting interest from Manchester United, it may not be long before he heads for the exit door.

The same can be said for Tonali. He was on Arsenal's radar in January and Premier League interest hasn't gone away. Six months later, it's Tottenham Hotspur who are looking to swoop in, with the Italian open to the move.

Even after the Italian, though, the exit door may not slam shut in Tyneside. Alongside those aforementioned names, Newcastle could lose a big-money star for next to nothing.

The misery simply keeps coming at St James' Park. According to Caught Offside, Newcastle are now expected to lose Nick Woltemade for next to nothing this summer.

The German is unhappy at the club after a disagreement with Howe over his best position and his departure is now seen as inevitable.

The worst news for the Magpies is that they'll likely have to settle for a loan exit which will offer interested clubs the option to buy.

This means that they won't benefit from his departure until next summer, with no return on their investment this time around, not long after spending £69m to secure his arrival.

When it comes to potential suitors, Premier League rivals Aston Villa are set to make an approach and hope to land what would be a bargain deal for a player who is still so full of potential.

Having been rejected by Munoz at the same time that several sales are on the cards, to say that it could be a long summer for Newcastle would be a major understatement.
