Hitter of the Weekend

Jacob Walsh, 1B, Washington Nationals (High-A Wilmington): 7-15, 2 2B, 3 HR.
It was a jam-packed weekend for Wilmington on the Jersey Shore, but Walsh made the absolute most of it. The former Oregon Duck did a number on the opposing waterfowl, touching up Shorebirds pitchers for his 22nd, 23rd, and 24th home runs of the season. His profile is pretty pure slugger from the cold corner, but that’ll play when the bat is this hot.

Pitcher of the Weekend

David Sandlin, RHP, Chicago White Sox (Triple-A Charlotte): 7.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 9 K, 1 BB.
The confounding performances of Sandlin have created a pickle for the division-leading ChiSox. The 25-year-old continues to excel with the Knights, and a bevy of pitching injuries have created a possible on-ramp for his integration into their rotation. And yet, multiple bulk outings for Sandlin at the major-league level have gone off the rails, leaving him a question mark for the September stretch run.
