Three-time All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman has been heating up at the plate for the Boston Red Sox following his slow start since joining the team at the MLB trade deadline. 

Rutschman started his tenure with the Red Sox going 1-for-14, and through the first month with the team, his OPS hovered around the .500 mark as he had a difficult time providing extra-base hits. 

But when he faced his former team, the Baltimore Orioles, on Sept. 3, he returned to Camden Yards and hit two home runs, making history and breaking out of his slump. In addition, he showed the Red Sox why he was worthy of being acquired as a former 2023 Silver Slugger winner.

He's now hit four home runs with the Red Sox, and his latest moonshot came against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. He crushed a three-run shot in the bottom of the second, which helped the Red Sox defeat the Angels, 5-2, with his three-RBI performance.

Acquiring the elite catcher is starting to pay off for the Red Sox, who now own a 4-0 record with Rutschman in the lineup in September. 

In the Red Sox's 3-1 victory over the Orioles on Sept. 6, Rutschman flashed his defensive flair by successfully throwing out Rece Hinds at second base after he hit a double. It's another strong aspect of his game and something that also appealed to the Red Sox when they went out and snagged him. 

With both the Red Sox and Orioles, he has successfully caught 18 opponents stealing, and his framing run value of 6 ranks in the 95th percentile. 

The 28-year-old has found his groove with Boston, and he's started raking at a critical time, close to the postseason where they will need the best version of Rutschman if they want to make a deep run.

Rutschman is now slugging an impressive .875 over his last four games with three home runs. 

The Red Sox will be facing Reid Detmers on Tuesday; he has surrendered seven home runs on the road in his last 47.1 innings pitched. The Angels southpaw utilizes his four-seam fastball and slider the most, which works to Rutschman's advantage, as they happen to be the two pitches that he's squared off the best against this season.
