Dallas Mavericks president Masai Ujiri has been in contact with Klay Thompson this offseason, sources told Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

The Mavs prefer to trade Thompson over buying him out, though sources add that it remains to be seen how the situation will play out.

Thompson recently said on a Twitch stream that his goal is to play for a championship.

The Heat are a possible landing spot if Thompson is bought out.
