Tom is a football journalist with five years of experience. He has been featured in the Non-League Paper, Crawley Observer, Sussex Express and The RedmenTV - producing features, news and conducting interviews.

For Football FanCast, Tom has sat down with a number of names from the industry, including Ally McCoist, Philippe Senderos and Chris Waddle. Elsewhere, he has covered the National League South final, the Formula E London Prix, Crawley Town and Brighton’s U21s.

Tom enjoys writing features about teams in the Football League and Premier League, whilst also receiving the opportunity to conduct interviews on behalf of FFC.

Having written for The RedmenTV, he is particularly an expert on all things Liverpool.

Manchester United are now one step away from completing their first signing of the summer and their first signing since appointing Michael Carrick on a permanent basis.

The Red Devils are on a good run in their recruitment department. Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Senne Lammens all enjoyed excellent debut campaigns this season, with the latter even winning the Premier League's signing of the season award.

Now, with Carrick at the helm, INEOS are looking to repeat their genius. This time, one year on from rebuilding their frontline, the focus is set to be on midfielders.

Sandro Tonali, Elliot Anderson and others have threatened to steal the headlines on that front. Anderson would be a particularly impressive signing, given that Manchester City are also sniffing around.

Before the Nottingham Forest midfielder, however, the focus has been on welcoming an alternative option to replace Casemiro at the base of Carrick's midfield.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Man United are now on the verge of signing Ederson from Atalanta in a deal worth €48m (£42M) after bonuses.

The midfielder is in his final days as an Atalanta player and all signs are suggesting that he could be on his way to Old Trafford sooner rather than later.

Negotiations are expected to reach a positive outcome for all parties, with Man United kicking off their summer transfer window in impressive style.

As for Atalanta, they're set to earn hefty profit with United paying over double the €22.9m (£20m) that the Italians initially shelled out to welcome Ederson in 2022.

"Monster" Ederson will replace Casemiro

Ederson is not the obvious signing at Man United, but neither was Lammens. Instead, he is the right signing, the right profile to replace Casemiro at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian has enjoyed a steady rise in Italy and has more than earned the chance to take the Premier League by storm courtesy of the Red Devils.

Dubbed a "monster" by journalist Ryan Taylor, Ederson is capable of matching Casemiro's work out of possession whilst providing a safer option on the ball.

The Atalanta man is an underrated passer, who would be an ideal option next to the more creative Kobbie Mainoo. At 26 years old, he is at the peak of his powers and could even look like a bargain deal at just £42m this summer,

As far as first signings go, Carrick is set to land an undeniable gem.
