Manchester United have been in talks to sign an "incredible" player, with Michael Carrick looking to rebuild his midfield this summer.
Man Utd finalise deal to sign Ederson
Fabrizio Romano has revealed Man United have now sealed a deal to sign Ederson, who is in line to become Carrick's first signing as permanent manager.
However, the Red Devils aren't planning to stop there, with Romano also adding: "Manchester United signed the first midfielder, and they will have more, at least one more. So stay tuned, because in the next days I will tell you more on Man United and midfielders, but they are already working on it behind the scenes. After Ederson, Michael Carrick will get at least one more."
Aurelien Tchouameni is United's dream signing, as INEOS believe the Frenchman would be the perfect addition to Carrick's squad, but they are also plotting a raid on Real Madrid's major rivals.
Man Utd enter negotiations to sign "incredible" Barcelona star
That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, which states Man United have now held talks regarding a deal for Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, who has been attracting widespread interest from the Premier League.
Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Brighton, Everton, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace have also been in negotiations to sign the Spaniard, with Barca now prepared to sanction a summer transfer.
However, AS Monaco are also in the race to sign the Spaniard, and the French side are 'increasingly confident' they will be able to get a deal over the line, so INEOS may need to move swiftly to secure his signature.
Barcelona teammate Lamine Yamal is a big fan of the 22-year-old, saying during the 2024-25 season: "We hope that he recovers soon. We love him very much. He was having an incredible season. Because it was his first season in the elite he was at a great level of play, assists and I’m happy that he did well."
The two-cap Spain international has now made 75 appearances for the La Liga champions, during which time he's picked up one goal and seven assists, but it was rare for him to complete a full 90 minutes last season.
Marc Casado's La Liga statistics
- 24 matches
- 10 starts
- 981 minutes played
- 0 goals
- 1 assist
- 91% pass-completion rate
- 36 defensive contributions
With that in mind, Casado may need to leave Barca for the good of his career this summer, but given that he has been a bit-part player for Hansi Flick, it is unclear whether he would immediately be able to slot into Carrick's midfield as a starter.
