Manchester United are now interested in signing Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, who is also being targeted by Leeds United.

Leeds are looking to bring in Tresoldi to challenge for Dominic Calvert-Lewin's place in the starting XI, although that could be a difficult task, considering the former Everton man bagged 14 Premier League goals in 35 appearances last season.

Tresoldi-Club-Brugge

However, the Italy-born marksman could be up to the task, considering scout Jacek Kulig described him as a "Luis Suarez regen" last season, and indeed he was regularly on the scoresheet for the Belgian side.

Club Brugge finished the season as champions, and the 21-year-old played a major role, picking up 19 goals and seven assists in the Belgian Pro League, with only Christos Tzolis racking up a higher number of goal involvements in the squad.

That said, the youngster perhaps should've been on the scoresheet more often, but he missed 17 big chances, which was the third-highest number in the division.

As such, Tresoldi may not currently be at the level to lead the line for a club the size of Man United, and Michael Carrick could perhaps do with signing a more experienced striker, considering Benjamin Sesko is still only 23-years-old.

Rating Man Utd's potential striker options

Benjamin Sesko

Sesko took a little while to get going during his debut campaign at Old Trafford, and injuries certainly did him no favours, but the Slovenian ultimately finished the season with a very respectable tally of 11 goals in 30 Premier League matches. Having gotten to grips with English football, the former RB Leipzig man could kick on next season.

8/10

Joshua Zirkzee

Zirkzee has largely remained a back-up option since arriving from Bologna, with the Dutchman failing to make much of an impact, and scoring just nine goals in 75 matches for the Red Devils. As such, it may be a wise move for Michael Carrick's side to get him off the books this summer.

4/10

Nicolo Tresoldi

It is difficult to predict whether Tresoldi would be a success at United, considering he is yet to prove himself in one of Europe's major leagues, and he has a tendency to squander big chances. That said, a record of 25 goals in all competitions last season is encouraging, and suggests he may be capable of challenging Sesko for a place in the starting XI.

According to a report from Caught Offside, Man United have now entered contention to sign Tresoldi, with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea also keen.

Club Brugge could demand around €50m (£43m) for the forward, who is one of their prized assets, meaning he should be affordable for the Red Devils.

The Premier League 'could be a likely destination' for the 24-cap Germany U21 international, as AS Roma have been priced out of a deal, but FC Barcelona are also stepping up a move, which could pose United a problem.
