The Orlando Magic are reportedly expected to move on from Jonathan Isaac this offseason as the organization looks to create greater financial flexibility.

According to Sean Deveney, while Isaac’s contract could potentially be used in a trade, Orlando’s current salary-cap situation makes that option less appealing.

With Paolo Banchero’s lucrative contract extension set to take effect, the Magic are expected to prioritize cost-saving measures.

League expectations are that Orlando will waive Isaac and use the NBA’s stretch provision to spread his $8 million cap hit over multiple seasons.

Doing so would help the franchise manage its payroll more effectively while maintaining flexibility for future roster moves.

Although Isaac could serve as a useful salary-matching piece in a trade, Deveney reports that moving him in a deal would likely reduce Orlando’s financial flexibility, making a waiver the more likely outcome.
