After hijacking Newcastle United's move to sign Victor Munoz, Liverpool are wasting no time before attempting to complete their second marquee signing of the summer.

Whilst the rest of England were watching on as Thomas Tuchel's side battled past Croatia, Liverpool were busy stealing headlines of their own. And once again, it was at the detriment of Newcastle United.

12 months since the Reds stole Hugo Ekitike from under their noses before compounding their misery with the big-money addition of Alexander Isak, Anfield chiefs have managed to get one over on the Magpies again.

Those at St James' Park will be sick of the sight of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, who have triggered Munoz's Osasuna release clause at the request of new manager Andoni Iraola.

The young Spaniard is direct, quick and tenacious both in and out of possession. He's the perfect fit for Iraola, even if his output still needs work, and will add strength in depth to his new side.

Munoz's arrival could be a sign of things to come in Merseyside, with Anfield chiefs already working on their second signing of the summer following the Osasuna man.

Liverpool already 'working' on second major deal

Edwards and Hughes may have performed their Munoz hijack from out of nowhere, but another target is more of an open secret.

According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are now "working" on completing a deal to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig and could even land the Ivory Coast winger during the World Cup.

The tournament hasn't stopped their pursuit of Munoz, who is set to undergo a medical in America, and Diomande could follow suit. The impressive teenager also has interest from Paris Saint-Germain, highlighting just how much he is rated around Europe.

It won't be a cheap deal, either. Previous reports have claimed that Leipzig are looking for around £86m to sell Diomande this summer. Based on last year's spending, however, that should be no problem for Liverpool.

"He's a left winger with outstanding speed, can dribble, is very athletic and can finish. He also never gives up the ball and works for the team." - Leipzig managing director Marcel Schäfer

If Munoz is the starter at Anfield this summer, then Diomande is very much the main course. After such a disappointing campaign last time out, Liverpool are moving like a side with plenty of making up to do.
