MAAP's design on the special edition Elemento

This isn’t the first time companies like Kask and MAAP have collaborated on a helmet. One brings professional-level performance while the other pushes the boundaries of design and aesthetics.

A handful of years ago, the two first collaborated on the Protone Icon helmet. Now they are working together once again to deliver a special edition of the Elemento.

Kask Elemento

We’re no strangers to the Kask Elemento. In fact, just over a year ago, our very own Jordan Villella reviewed the Elemento. And, overall, he was impressed with the helmet. It breathed well while remaining aerodynamic, and was incredibly versatile.

This helmet can be worn across many cycling disciplines — XC mountain biking, gravel, road, and cyclocross.

But don’t take my word on all this positivity. Let’s hear it from the man himself. “Nearly all of my ride impressions with the Kask Elemento have been positive. The way the Elemento can go from a crit to a cross-country mountain bike race is fantastic. It’s a do-it-all helmet; there is no questioning that,” Jordan said in his review.

However, Elemento didn’t come without its drawbacks. Jordan experienced some issues with the pads, although he found them easy to remedy. However, the glaring issue was the $400 price tag.

But, for those willing to pay a bit more, the Kask Elemento is an excellent option. And, if you’re willing to pay even more ($40 to be exact), you can have the Elemento Special Edition.

The Elemento gets a touch of MAAP

The MAAP x Kask Elemento Special Edition helmet maintains the same high-performance qualities that Jordan loved a year ago. Kask designed the Elemento to maximize aerodynamics while maintaining high levels of ventilation.

The Elemento Special Edition maintains the same high-tech attributes of the original Elemento. This includes Kask’s Fluid Carbon 12, an energy-absorbing composite technopolymer. It also uses the brand’s proprietary 3D-printed Multipod internal padding, which, combined with the Fluid Carbon 12, increases impact protection.

We also see the use of Kask’s OctoFit+ dial fit system. For added comfort and performance, they continue to use a Merino wool padding and polyester chinstrap.

The Elemento Special Edition weighs 260 grams and meets CE / UKCA – EN 1078SA standards. It retails for $440.
