Following Tom Aspinall’s statement revealing he has vacated the UFC Heavyweight Championship, Josh Hokit wants an undisputed title fight against Ciryl Gane.

During the post-fight press conference following Ryan Garcia’s second-round TKO win over Conor Benn this past Saturday, UFC CEO Dana White said he’d be having discussions about Aspinall’s heavyweight title status. White’s comments were made after Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn revealed his fighter must undergo additional eye tests before he can compete again.

Shortly after White’s media scrum, Aspinall confirmed that he has relinquished the UFC heavyweight title. Hokit is a rising contender, and he has thrown his name in the hat for a title fight against Gane, who is the current interim champion.

“The fans deserve Me vs Gane,” Hokit wrote on X. “I’ll give Ciryl what he has coming. If Alex can win 1 fight in my weight class, I’ll give it to him too, early ‘27. I’ll be the most active champ in the company.”

Hokit last competed on the UFC Freedom 250 card back in June. He scored a definitive second-round TKO finish over Derrick Lewis. Later on that same night, Gane stopped Alex Pereira in the second stanza to win interim gold.

At this time, there’s no word on what UFC matchmakers have planned now that Aspinall is out of the picture for the time being. Pereira has called for a rematch against Gane, but some don’t believe their first encounter was competitive enough for them to run things back for now.
