Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayChicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey underwent successful right ankle surgery Wednesday and is expected to return to the court in approximately three months, the team announced. The timeline projects him to be healthy for the start of training camp ahead of his third season in Chicago.
Giddey, 23, first suffered the ankle injury at the 2024 Paris Olympics and dealt with recurring setbacks throughout the 2025-26 season, including a separate two-week absence in December due to a left hamstring injury. He averaged 17.0 points, 9.1 assists and 8.3 rebounds in 32 minutes per game while shooting 44.8% from the field this past season.
Giddey returns to a franchise in transition as the Bulls fired general manager Arturas Karnisovas and executive Marc Eversley in April before head coach Billy Donovan stepped down shortly after. The Australian guard is entering the second year of a four-year, $100 million contract signed last summer as a restricted free agent.
