Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayIndia have received mixed fitness updates ahead of their upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, which begins on September 13 in New Delhi. While fast bowler Harshit Rana is set to miss the series, there is encouraging news surrounding pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.
Harshit Rana ruled out of Afghanistan T20I series
Harshit Rana will miss the upcoming T20I series series after sustaining a new injury during his rehab at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). The nature of his new injury is not known but he has been down with a hamstring issue since the third T20I against the hosts England in July. The right-arm pacer was included in the India squad for Afghanistan subject to fitness clearance, but recent assessments by the BCCI medical team have indicated that he requires additional rehabilitation.
The latest setback could also raise concerns over Rana’s availability for India’s upcoming Asian Games campaign, depending on how quickly he responds to rehabilitation.
Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback remains on track
On the positive side, Jasprit Bumrah continues to make steady progress and remains on course to return to international cricket during the Afghanistan series.
The experienced pacer has been away from action since India’s July tour of England after suffering a left knee injury. Bumrah has subsequently undergone a carefully managed rehabilitation programme at the CoE.
His workload has reportedly been monitored closely as India look to ensure that the premier fast bowler is fully prepared before handing him his international comeback.
If he receives the final clearance, Bumrah is expected to spearhead India’s pace attack against Afghanistan. His return would provide a major boost to the team ahead of a busy international schedule.

Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar provide more positives
India have also received encouraging updates on two all-rounders. Nitish Kumar Reddy is recovering well from a quadriceps injury and remains on course to be considered for selection.
Meanwhile, Washington Sundar has already been declared fit after recovering from a hamstring strain. His availability gives India another valuable all-round option heading into the series.
