Moments earlier, Axel Sola knocked out fellow Frenchman Fares Ziam in front of both fighters’ home crowds at UFC Paris to score his third UFC finish.

Sola wanted to end things early, and as both fighters met in the center of the octagon, Sola ate a brutal elbow but responded very quickly with a left hook that put Ziam to sleep. Sola landed a couple of follow-up bombs on an already unconscious Ziam before the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

Official decison: Axel Sola defeated Fares Ziam in Round 1 (1:40) by knockout at UFC Paris.

“Smile Killer” remained unconscious for several moments with his eyes open after the cold knockout.
