3. › Eddie Hearn Rips Dana White Over Fury-Joshua Fight: “You’ve Lost, Mate”

Eddie Hearn is not backing down after Dana White was named in the announcement for Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury. The Matchroom promoter says White cannot have promotional involvement in the December 11 fight at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium because Joshua’s signed deal does not allow it.

Hearn took aim at White during a heated IFL TV interview after Netflix said Turki Alalshikh’s The Ring and White would collaborate on promoting the heavyweight event. Netflix will stream Fury vs. Joshua worldwide at no extra charge for its members, but Hearn said the wording has created fresh problems days before the two fighters are due to meet at a London press conference on September 30.

“We stand by our contract. He cannot be involved in the fight. There’s a contract that says that,” Hearn said. “The f**kery involved in this fight… even Netflix put out a press release saying, ‘The fight will be in conjunction with Dana White.’ There’s loads of battles to come on that because that ain’t happening either.”

Hearn said he intends to speak with Netflix directly, adding: “I’ll be speaking to Netflix to remind them of their contractual obligations and it’ll be dealt with like we dealt with the other situation [location]. These people make it very, very difficult for themselves. We’re supposed to have a presser next week – now, we have stuff to sort out.”

The exact terms of the agreements have not been released publicly, so Hearn’s description cannot be independently verified from the contracts themselves. But he has made the same claim for months is that Joshua’s deal, and a corresponding agreement on Fury’s side, specifically prevents White, Zuffa Boxing, TKO or associated companies from taking a promotional role. Hearn previously said the event could not proceed with that type of involvement.

“The fight doesn’t take place if they have any promotional involvement in the show,” he said in June, claiming the paperwork named Zuffa and TKO specifically. He has also said Joshua, a shareholder in Matchroom, supports that position. White, the UFC president and a central figure in Zuffa Boxing, has publicly said he would promote the fight. Fury has welcomed his presence, while both Hearn and Fury’s long-time promoter Frank Warren have disputed the idea that White would be the promoter of record.

The issue is complicated by the official wording around the event. Netflix’s initial statement said The Ring and White would work together to promote the December card. Hearn told The Independent that the contracts should be honoured and that “unless we decide otherwise, Dana White cannot be involved in the fight.”

Hearn’s latest remarks were aimed at more than a press-release credit. He accused White of trying to move the contest to Madison Square Garden and said the American had failed to take Britain’s biggest boxing event overseas.

“You really got them to include your name in the press release? You silly soppy t*t,” Hearn said. “He’s so petty. You’ve lost, mate. You’ve lost. You did everything you can to bring the fight to America and rob the British fight fans of the fight. Give it up, son.”

He continued: “You said it was at MSG, you’ve lost there and you’ll lose here as well.” Hearn also mocked White’s planned Zuffa Boxing show at London’s Copper Box Arena this Saturday, saying White would be present despite not knowing “who’s fighting.”

Joshua’s team had pushed hard for a UK venue, despite reports that a US event could have brought in more money. Cardiff was eventually selected after Wembley Stadium and Madison Square Garden were explored during negotiations.

For now, Fury vs. Joshua remains confirmed for Cardiff, with both former heavyweight champions expected to appear together next week. The official promotional credits, the main-event start time and the undercard are still unresolved. Hearn may be ready for another round with White, but the December fight itself is still going ahead.
