Former UFC title challenger Dustin Poirier will return to his television analyst role for the first time since his arrest earlier this summer.

Dustin Poirier is still in the early stages of dealing with the aftermath of his arrest for public intoxication at Atlanta International Airport earlier this summer. Poirier, who retired from Mixed Martial Arts following a loss to Max Holloway at UFC 318, faces up to a year in prison and/or a fine if convicted of the misdemeanor charge.

Poirier recently shared that one of his major post-fighting sponsors, Bud Light, opted to part ways with the former UFC superstar following his arrest. His contract was terminated immediately following his detainment, and his long-term future as an analyst on Paramount+ remains cloudy.

Despite his recent legal issues, Poirier will return to the broadcast desk this weekend at the Apex in Las Vegas.

As first reported by MMA Junkie, Poirier will sit alongside anchor Din Thomas and former UFC standout Alan Jouban at the broadcast desk for mid-event and post-fight segments. It’s Poirier’s first Paramount+ broadcasting assignment since his arrest on Father’s Day.

Poirier’s return to the desk comes after another former UFC star-turned analyst, Anthony Smith, was arrested for domestic violence and other charges in Nebraska last week. Smith faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of allegedly abusing and threatening to kill his wife.

As of this writing, Poirier’s role at the desk remains intact, although Paramount could weigh a potential punishment depending on the result of his court case.

UFC Vegas 120 is headlined by a lightweight matchup between Poirier’s former teammate, Mateusz Gamrot, and surging contender Quillan Salkilld.
