Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green expressed certainty about Steve Kerr’s future with the team during an interview with Sam Amick of The Athletic. Green said, “I don’t foresee Steve going anywhere. I don’t think we’re done. I think we’ve still got a lot left to give.”
Green emphasized his comfort with continuity, noting that adjusting to a new coach in his 14th and 15th seasons is not appealing. He added that the Warriors’ success has been built together and he wants to finish his career alongside Kerr.
Kerr has no plans to leave the organization for another coaching opportunity. The head coach highlighted his strong relationships with players and the front office, particularly GM Mike Dunleavy Jr., as key reasons for staying.
Kerr told Slater, “I think I’m very comfortable with the players. I know they respect me. We have a great collaboration. Love working with Mike, love working with this whole organization.” Despite this, he is not rushing into a contract extension, suggesting a decision could come around the All-Star break.
The 60-year-old coach acknowledged the natural expiration date on coaching roles in sports but indicated he does not feel that his time with the Warriors is over. He also underscored the strong connection with Stephen Curry as a factor in the team’s ongoing success.
Green also referenced Curry’s loyalty to Kerr, noting the star guard has publicly stated he does not want to play for another coach. This alignment between the team’s core players and leadership appears to reinforce stability within the organization.
