The Los Angeles Dodgers will be facing the Detroit Tigers in an upcoming series, which means that Tarik Skubal is in line to face his former team for the first time. 

The Aug. 1 blockbuster trade sent Skubal to the Dodgers in exchange for prospects Zahir Hope, River Ryan and Brady Smith. The series will commence on Friday, Aug. 28 at Comerica Park and Skubal is expected to start in game two of the three game series. 

Since joining the Dodgers, Skubal has made four starts. While it's been an adjustment and he's had mixed results, in his last start against the Pittsburgh Pirates he put up his best performance. He picked up his first win in a Dodgers uniform and while the Pirates scored three runs against him in the first inning, he responded by pitching seven dominant innings with 11 punchouts, five hits and two walks that led to a 4-3 comeback victory for the Dodgers. 

As a Dodger, Skubal now owns a 1-2 record with a 3.38 ERA, 30 strikeouts and a 1.13 WHIP.

Emotions will likely be riding high for the reigning two-time AL Cy Young winner as he returns to the mound against a team he spent part of seven seasons with. 

Skubal already acknowledged that it was hard leaving the Tigers and bidding farewell to his teammates as he spent his whole professional career as a Tiger. He was also open about the fact that he cherished playing for the Tigers and how he would even consider rejoining the team in free agency in the offseason. 

When Skubal makes his return to Comerica Park fans will likely give him a warm and emotional welcome with a standing ovation. 

While it will be sentimental, simultaneously we should expect to see a competitive drive with Skubal as he faces hitters that he's very familiar with, raising the intensity of the game. Skubal will also be representing a juggernaut team with the Dodgers, which should make for an exciting matchup.
