Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwaySuns forward Dillon Brooks has been fined $25K by the NBA for “making a lewd gesture on the playing court,” the league announced in a press release shared on Twitter.
The incident took place late in the second quarter of Thursday’s lopsided win over the Pacers.
According to the league, Brooks was knocked to the ground while taking a shot, and after the ball dropped through the hoop, he remained on his back and made a crotch-chop gesture, as shown in a video circulating on social media.
The fine overshadowed what may have been Brooks’ strongest performance since joining Phoenix. He scored a season-high 32 points on an efficient 12-of-18 shooting in only 28 minutes.
The former second-round pick is currently in the third season of a four-year, $86MM contract, meaning the $25K penalty is unlikely to have a significant financial impact.
Brooks, who starred collegiately at Oregon, has a long history of league discipline. Over his nine NBA seasons, he has been fined or suspended several times for on-court incidents.
Now 29, the Canadian forward is in his first year with the Suns after being acquired from Houston during the offseason as part of the Kevin Durant trade package.
