A showdown between Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson appears to have once again become a possibility over the last few days, and Haney has now adjusted his terms for the potential clash with the Newark technician.

Haney defeated Brian Norman Jr last November to get his hands on the WBO welterweight world title but has not fought since. That is not solely his fault, having been set to take on Keyshawn Davis until ‘The Businessman’ pulled out due to his belief that the financial package was insufficient.

Meanwhile, Stevenson became boxing’s third-youngest four-division world champion when he schooled Teofimo Lopez to claim the WBO super-lightweight crown back in January, but despite signing to Zuffa Boxing in July, the 29-year-old has not yet returned to the ring.

Still, the American duo continue to be linked to a mammoth meeting, but Stevenson’s reluctance to come up to 147lbs and Haney’s refusal to fight at a 144lb catchweight has been the main stumbling block.

Now, on X, Haney has now offered to drop down to 145lbs for a bout before the end of the year, providing that no rehydration clause would be in place.

“Let’s do this 145 no rehydration clause @ShakurStevenson… let’s see who’s the real p***y!

“December.. 2026 InshaAllah.”

He later tweeted confirmation of his offer.

“Somebody go wake Shakur up.. Tell him we got a deal”

Haney’s WBO welterweight title could still be on the line in a possible 145lb catchweight clash with Stevenson – irrespective of the contest not being fought at the 147lb limit – similarly to how Antonio Margarito lost his WBC super-welterweight title to Manny Pacquiao in a 150lb catchweight scrap back in 2010.
