Daniel Cormier is none too pleased over Josh Hokit’s diss aimed at Michelle Obama.

UFC Freedom 250 offered a lot for MMA fans to be excited about. All seven fights on the historic White House card delivered knockout finishes. A new lightweight champion was crowned in a thrilling main event, and there is some movement in the heavyweight division after Ciryl Gane captured interim gold.

There was one moment during the UFC Freedom 250 broadcast that ruffled some feathers, however. After his emphatic TKO victory over Derrick Lewis, Hokit spoke to Joe Rogan and dropped the most controversial quote of the night. “Michelle Obama is a man,” Hokit said in front of POTUS Donald Trump on the White House lawn.

UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier was on color commentary duty during the event, and he scolded Hokit in a video on his YouTube channel for turning a special night for MMA into something negative (h/t Full Mount MMA).

😳🧐 DC calls Josh Hokit's gimmicks 'lame as f*ck' and says that he 'absolutely hated' the comment about Michelle Obama:

"It was completely uncalled for. Josh has been to my gym and he wasn't doing the whole character thing. He's just a normal dude, he's a good fighter and a… pic.twitter.com/ZBbQDbIPJQ

“It was completely uncalled for,” Cormier said. “Josh has been to my gym and he wasn’t doing the whole character thing. He’s just a normal dude, he’s a good fighter and a great athlete… It was an unnecessary shot on her. That’s the type of statement that divides. I absolutely hated that. He needs to do better. There was no gain in Josh Hokit doing that. It was digusting. Get it together dude.”

UFC CEO Dana White also condemned Hokit’s remark when speaking to reporters, saying that while he’s always had a strong stance on freedom of speech, he felt the surging heavyweight’s antics were “nonsense.” Hokit has been leaning into a persona that has seen him target the likes of Alex Pereira, Ilia Topuria, and Jiri Prochazka. Some believe Hokit has crossed the line, while others feel he’s been making things interesting.

Hokit has defended his verbal jab at Obama. He took to his X account to claim there is a double standard from people who are chiding him. He thinks those same critics haven’t been held accountable for their own remarks about Melania Trump and the late Charlie Kirk.
