Conor McGregor

Former UFC double champion Conor McGregor was most recently spotted training in $20,000 Nike Air Mags.

The Irishman is preparing to return to the octagon after five years and will run it back with Max Holloway on July 11 in the main event of UFC 329.

Earlier this week, “The Notorious,” while sparring at Crumlin Boxing Club, was donning the super-rare Nike Air Mags. While most sneaker collectors and enthusiasts would likely preserve the shoe as a display piece rather than wear it, McGregor decided to train in it.

The kicks the Dubliner was spotted wearing are a replica of self-lacing shoes featured in the 1989 film Back to the Future Part II. These ultra-rare sneakers feature a futuristic design, complete with self-lacing technology and LED light panels. 1510 pairs of the Nike Mag were sold in 2011, and in 2016, another 89 pairs were sold.

While these kicks were never designed for sparring sessions or sports and are treated as “antique sneakers,” “The Double Champ does what the f*** he wants,” and “The Notorious” has once again proven exactly that.

Conor McGregor says he’s done with anything materialistic

During a recent sit-down with Ariel Helwani, Conor McGregor admitted that he’s moved away from flaunting a lavish lifestyle. The Irishman added that he believes money, fame, and material excess can attract negativity, and therefore, his new self has decided to keep a low profile.

“Man, I’m different, brother. I am really and truly in my heart and soul over all this materialistic bulls*it. I find myself in a fight still. The rent is due every day… The old ways that don’t serve me and the new ways, the new version of me, the new man I am. I find myself in competition, in a battle with that. Money isn’t the be-all and end-all. It’s not life. I won’t be flashing money…. You won’t see me on the [Forbes List] again. I won’t register. Look what it brought to me. Still, even now, I can feel it somewhere.”

“There are forces that try to get their claws into you in this life, and I don’t want to give them energy. I don’t want to give it life. I am happy where I am… I keep myself modest.”

“I forgive myself. I forgive myself for disgracing the position that God put me in. Which I did many times.
