Don't use starting knots. Use a starting clamp/flying clamp against the frame (I use a small piece of leather to protect the frame), pull your first few crosses, then go back and repull the first cross. You can then use a finishing knot so that they all look identical.
For the same look I 2nd emjay. Just use a clamp and finishing knot. Personally I use a starting knot because I don't mind the difference.
Maybe watch this Jabroni. He clamps the 2nd cross, pulls the first cross and adds 10% to the pull and ties his knot, releases the clamp so the knot can sit and reclamps. Tensions the 2nd cross, and moves the clamp on the 2nd cross to the first and the first cross to the 2nd, this acts as a safety so no tension is being pulled on the knot. Then pulls 3rd cross and releases both clamps to pull any slack without any tension being pulled on the knot. This is very helpful when stringing maybe 30+ pounds of tension, not to pull tension on a knot.

This way all of your knots look the same instead of 3 finishing knots and 1 bulky starting knot.
