The Los Angeles Clippers offered LeBron James a one-year contract above $20 million that would have allowed him to continue his career without relocating.

The Boston Celtics were another team that surprisingly reached out with interest in James. The Celtics have been one of James' biggest rivals across his stops with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers. James has played against the Celtics in seven separate playoff series.

In joining the Philadelphia 76ers, James will get to continue that rivalry on another team with a deep history of playoff battles against the Celtics.

The Celtics traded Jaylen Brown to the Sixers shortly after the start of the free agency period, which indirectly led James to sign with Philadelphia.
