The Los Angeles Clippers want to retain restricted free agent Bennedict Mathurin, whom they acquired as part of the Ivica Zubac trade with the Indiana Pacers.

Mathurin averaged 17.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists across 54 games last season. His three-point shooting dipped to a career-low 31.5 percent, down from 34.0 percent during Indiana's run to the 2024-25 Finals.

Mathurin is represented by Nima Namakian.

The Clippers have also expressed interest in Peyton Watson of the Denver Nuggets, who is also a restricted free agent. The Nuggets retain the ability to match any offer sheet and have shown a strong desire to keep Watson, though a sign-and-trade remains possible.

The Clippers have traded away Kawhi Leonard, James Harden and Zubac this year, acquiring three first-round picks in the process. The team used one of those selections on Keaton Wagler with the No. 5 pick in June's draft.

A league source said acquiring the No. 5 pick from Indiana in the Zubac deal energized the organization, marking the franchise's highest draft position since selecting Blake Griffin first overall in 2009.

Another Western Conference executive said rival teams are now closely watching the Clippers' next moves, given the franchise's improved financial flexibility and accumulated draft capital.
