Having suffered a one-sided defeat to Conor Benn last time out, some British fight fans expected Chris Eubank Jr to hang up the gloves, but the 36-year-old has now revealed plans for his next fight.

Eubank defeated Benn in a huge domestic clash in their first meeting, but the roles were reversed in their November rematch, as a weight-drained Eubank scrambled to survive until the final bell – before losing a comprehensive unanimous decision.

Benn has since returned to action and outpointed Regis Prograis, seemingly teeing up a shot at the WBC welterweight world title, but Eubank Jr has been relatively quiet, with a rumoured catchweight clash against Australia’s Michael Zerafa being the only murmured fight.

Speaking with Boxing King Media, Eubank Jr maintained that he will not be retiring by instead announcing his expectation to fight before the end of 2026.

“I am a free agent, I am not tied down to any one promoter or any one broadcaster. I am free and its a beautiful position to be in. The industry knows this. We have a lot of exciting opportunities and offers to weigh up and pick from and decide which route we want to go.

“I am in Nigeria, we are half way across the world. There are opportunities here, there are opportunities in America, in England, in Saudi, in the Middle East. It all comes down to what is best for me.

“I think that I will be back in the ring maybe towards the end of the year.”

With less than six months left of 2026, Eubank’s return opponent could be announced in the coming months. Australia’s Michael Zerafa, who had said he was in talks with Eubank’s team earlier in the year, still believes he is the frontrunner.
