Spence has not fought since his 2023 loss to Terence Crawford, making this one of the year’s biggest comeback fights. Tszyu, meanwhile, can push himself back into the super welterweight title picture with the biggest victory of his career.

“I know that this is gonna be a tough, grueling fight,” Spence said. “Tim is gonna push me past my limits when we get in there.”

The former unified welterweight champion compared the assignment to his 2017 trip to England, where he stopped Kell Brook to win his first world title.

“This feels similar to when I went over to England to fight Kell Brook. The mentality doesn’t change at all. It’s me versus him and it’s everything on the line. The hunger is still there and I’m still here to show everyone that Errol Spence is still here.”

Spence also dismissed any concern over his lengthy absence.

“I’m feeling great. I needed that time off to let everything heal. I wouldn’t have come back if I wasn’t feeling great.”

Tszyu welcomed the challenge in front of his home supporters and made clear he plans to dictate the fight from the opening round.

“I want my hands to do the talking,” Tszyu said. “I want to do damage and hurt him.”

The Australian also believes the early rounds will reveal whether Spence has truly returned at his previous level.

“I want to see how bad he wants it. We’ll see how he reacts to getting hit and take it from there. I have to set the pace early.”

Saturday’s main event headlines a PBC Pay-Per-View from Sydney’s Afterpay Arena, available on Prime Video, DAZN and PPV platforms in the United States. The card also features Stephen Fulton Jr. against Liam Wilson in a WBA super featherweight title eliminator.

The winner of Spence versus Tszyu moves straight back into the championship conversation at 154 pounds. The loser faces a much longer road back.
