Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayEven when the Oklahoma City Thunder's players earn honors, the team seems to come out on the good side of the cap sheet. Chet Holmgren earned All-NBA Third Team honors, which often puts players in a position for a larger payday. However, Holmgren's rookie scale extension did not include escalators for him making All-NBA.
That mean's Holmgren's max extension will start at 25% of the cap and will be worth a projected $239.25 million over five years. The deal is projected to start at $41.25 million next season. Given that in Holmgren's first three seasons, he had only played in 114 total regular season games, the Thunder had some negotiating advantage last offseason.
Jalen Williams' rookie scale extension will look the same as Holmgren's. Williams was not eligible for postseason awards, as he missed too many games this season.
Neither Holmgren nor Williams have any options in their five-year deals either. With the 2027-28 season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will start a four-year extension worth a projected $272.4 million. That has all three All-Star members of the Thunder under contract through at least the 2029-30 season.
