Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe Brewers’ season, once promising with an MLB-best 97 wins, came to a disappointing end Friday when they were swept by the Dodgers.
Now, it’s possible their staff ace could be on the way out this offseason.
The Brewers are now expected to “at least field offers” for right-handed starter Freddy Peralta, The Athletic reported, citing multiple sources.
Peralta has one year remaining on his contract, an $8 million team option for 2026, before he’d become a free agent next offseason.
The 29-year-old was an All-Star for the second time this year as he held a career-best 2.70 ERA with 204 strikeouts over 176 2/3 innings, winning a National League-high 17 games.

He’s been one of the most consistent pitchers in the game the past few years, at least in terms of durability, as he has pitched at least 165 innings in each of the last three seasons.
Milwaukee consistently ranks toward the bottom of payrolls, sitting at 22nd this year, according to Fangraphs’ estimate.
But whether they view the $8 million owed to Peralta in his age-30 season as a plus or not remains to be seen.
Milwaukee closer traded Devin Williams to the Yankees last year with one year left on his deal.

Even with a significantly lower payroll than the Dodgers’ nearly $400 million, the Brewers still made the NLCS. Ultimately, though, the vaunted Dodgers outplayed Milwaukee in every facet of the game in a quick sweep.
Peralta said losing in the NLCS was a “tough one,” and on a personal note, said he gets the business side of the game could factor into his final option year.
“I’ve been here forever, and I love this, I love the city of Milwaukee, the team, everyone here,” Peralta told reporters Friday night. “And that’s coming from the bottom of my heart.
“At the end of the day, I understand this is a business and anything can happen.”
