Brandon Weems has been promoted by the Cleveland Cavaliers to general manager under team president Koby Altman. Weems replaces Mike Gansey, who left the Cavaliers to become president of basketball operations with the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason.

Weems has been with the Cavaliers over the past decade, first starting in scouting and personnel positions before being named assistant general manager in 2022.

Before Weems joined the Cavaliers, he was an assistant coach at Oakland University.

Weems is also a childhood friend and former high school basketball teammate of LeBron James.
