Los Angeles Clippers guard Bradley Beal appears set to finally make his preseason debut on Friday when Los Angeles takes on Golden State, according to Chris Haynes.

Beal has yet to appear in a preseason contest, but signs point to him taking the court for the first time as a Clipper.

Last season in Phoenix, Beal dealt with persistent right knee inflammation and underwent arthroscopic surgery after the year ended to address the issue.

He was a limited participant in training camp earlier this month, but with clearance to play, Friday’s game is expected to mark his return to live action and his unofficial on-court introduction in a Clippers uniform.

Haynes also reports that Sixers center Joel Embiid has been cleared to play in Philadelphia’s preseason finale against Minnesota. Embiid has been gradually ramping up his workload after undergoing knee surgery in the spring.

Haynes previously noted that even though his preseason status was uncertain, he was on schedule to be ready for the season opener, and now it appears he’ll get limited preseason minutes beforehand.

It remains unknown how much time either Beal or Embiid will spend on the floor.

The expectation for both is likely to get a short run to establish rhythm and, most importantly, to get through their preseason appearances without any physical setbacks.

If all goes as planned, both veterans should be ready to go when the regular season begins next week.
