India have suffered a significant setback ahead of their two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, with premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah officially ruled out after failing to recover from a left knee injury. Jasprit Bumrah unable to regain full fitness

The call-up marks Nabi’s maiden selection to India’s senior men’s team following an outstanding run in domestic cricket. The right-arm pacer claimed 104 wickets across the last two Ranji Trophy seasons, including 60 wickets in the 2025-26 campaign, playing a key role in Jammu and Kashmir’s historic maiden Ranji Trophy title triumph. Nabi also impressed during the recent India A tour of Sri Lanka, where he picked up six wickets in two first-class matches, performances that ultimately earned him a long-awaited opportunity at the international level.
