One player who has already been linked with a move to the Europa League champions is Bologna forward Jonathan Rowe, who scored against the Villans for the Italian side earlier this year.
The club are reportedly in talks to sign the England U21 international to bolster their options in the wide positions when the summer transfer window opens for business.
Bologna are reportedly looking for a fee in the region of £35m to allow the English wing wizard to move on from the club, but it remains to be seen whether or not Villa are prepared to pay that price.
Aston Villa eyeing deal to sign England starter
Rowe, who scored against the Villans in the Europa League in April, is unproven in the Premier League and would be a risky signing for such a steep transfer fee.
Meanwhile, the club are reportedly looking at another English winger who is available for a lower price, whilst being far more proven at the top level.
According to Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, as relayed by Sport Witness, Aston Villa are one of the clubs interested in a deal to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
The report claims that the Red Devils are 'optimistic' that Villa can afford the £26m asking price on the England international's head, suggesting that a bid for £9m less than what Bologna want for Rowe would be accepted.
They are not the only team in the race to land the left winger, though, as Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on his services, although they do not have any European football to offer him.
Barcelona have yet to exercise their £26m option to sign him permanently, after he spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at the Camp Nou, and their indecision has opened the door for Villa to potentially make a move to bring him back for a second spell at the club.
Why Aston Villa must sign Marcus Rashford over Jonathan Rowe
The Villans should push to sign Rashford to fill a slot on the left wing ahead of Rowe, as he would be an even better option for Emery in the mid to long-term.
In the 2025/26 campaign, the Bologna attacker recorded a return of eight goals and four assists in 44 appearances in all competitions, including four goals and two assists in 12 matches in the Europa League.
Rashford, meanwhile, produced 14 goals and 11 assists in 49 matches for Barcelona during his time on loan at the Camp Nou from Manchester United, whilst they both typically played on the left wing.

At league level, the United loanee performed significantly better than Rowe as both a scorer and a creator of goals, whilst they both played in major European leagues, which suggests that he would be a far more effective option for Emery next season.
The 28-year-old star, who scored four goals and provided six assists in 17 games on loan at Villa, is also a highly experienced Premier League campaigner, with 89 goals and 53 assists in 297 appearances in the division.
Rowe, meanwhile, has zero goals and one assist in 13 Premier League games in his career to date, which came during his time at Norwich City in the 2021/22 campaign, as they were relegated from the top-flight.
Rashford, therefore, would arrive at Villa Park with less risk attached to him as he would join for a lower price, with better form this season and as a proven Premier League talent.
The £26m-rated star is also expected to be a starter for England at the World Cup under Thomas Tuchel this summer, after starting four of the seven qualifiers under the German, whilst Rowe did not make the squad.
Therefore, the Three Lions boss also sees Rashford as being a much better left wing option than Rowe, which is yet another reason why Emery should push for the club to pursue a deal for the United attacker over the ex-Norwich man in the summer transfer window.
