The Brazilian Motocross Championship will be decided this coming weekend. Enzo Lopes heads into the final as the championship leader, but Glenn Coldenhoff is just six points behind. Lopes’ Honda team will also field an extra strong rider for the decisive race: Benoit Paturel.
With one round remaining, Lopes has 363 points. Coldenhoff follows with 357 points, meaning the gap is just six points and the championship battle remains completely open.
For Coldenhoff, it will be a crucial race. The Dutchman has managed to keep the pressure on Lopes throughout the season and will have his final opportunity in the championship decider to turn the deficit around and claim the Brazilian title.
Lopes’ Honda team will line up this weekend with an additional trump card. Benoit Paturel is travelling to Brazil to strengthen the team for the season finale. The experienced Frenchman has demonstrated his speed in recent years in both the FIM Motocross World Championship and the United States.
With only six points separating Lopes and Coldenhoff, the final round of the Brazilian championship promises to deliver an exciting conclusion. Paturel’s presence could add another interesting factor to the battle for the leading positions.
