Infront Moto Racing is very happy to announce the renewal of its agreement with BMK Uddevalla for a further three years, keeping the MXGP of Sweden on the FIM Motocross World Championship calendar through to the end of the 2029 season. The announcement was made in Ernée in the presence of Tobias Revelj, President of BMK Uddevalla.

The Swedish Grand Prix has become a staple of the calendar. Uddevalla first welcomed the World Championship back in 1958 and has been a regular fixture since the early 2000s, with its natural circuit nestled against the rock face of the Glimminge Motorstadium producing some of the most memorable racing of the modern era. Legends such as Stefan Everts, Joël Smets, Antonio Cairoli, Jeffrey Herlings and Tim Gajser have all raced on its hard-pack slopes.

A NATION BEHIND ITS HEROES

The recent enthusiasm surrounding the Swedish Grand Prix is another indication of the passion for motocross in Sweden. Few moments capture it better than the 2024 edition, when Isak Gifting, the Viking, delivered one of the most dramatic races in recent history. Riding in front of his home crowd, Gifting charged into contention in the second MXGP race, passed Jeffrey Herlings and took the fight to championship leader Romain Febvre, before a crash just a handful of corners from the flag and a bike that refused to restart ended the fairy tale. The result was cruel, but the roar from the hillside that day told the whole story.

With this renewal, Swedish fans will be able to rally behind their national heroes for the next three years, in the hope of seeing a Swedish winner on home soil very soon.

David Luongo, CEO & President of Infront Moto Racing: “Uddevalla has been an iconic circuit on the GP calendar for decades, and it has always managed to modernise itself. Since Tobias joined the presidency of the club with his team and a modern vision of motocross, we have given a new dynamic to the Grand Prix. In summer we are all super happy to go to Sweden, and this year we broke the spectator record. The camping was full, with fans coming from the Netherlands, Belgium, France and across Central Europe, and with activities like the Ocean Challenge on Friday, families take home a great memory of the weekend. It is a pleasure to work together for another three years.”

Antonio Alia Portela, FIM / CMS Director: “Going back to Uddevalla for another term guarantees the variety of tracks in MXGP. With its layout and its technical side, it is special and iconic like no other. Then there is the spectacular power of the public and the passion they show when they see their own riders on the track, and when those riders are at the top, the atmosphere grows even more. New Swedish riders are coming through the European series, and we hope to see them at the top in Uddevalla, where they can really flourish.”

Tobias Revelj, President of BMK Uddevalla: “Of course it is very important for Uddevalla, but also for the whole of Scandinavia, because we also have many riders from Norway and Denmark. It is very important for Uddevalla as a community. Our strength comes from the club members, but also from the many clubs around Uddevalla who help us, and that is very important for us.”
