Browsing around Facebook Marketplace last week, which led to picking up the new-to-me 1984 Trek 830 I posted about, I spotted a seller in nearby Longmont, Colorado, selling various self-made bikepacking stem bags. Curious about the up-and-coming brand, I sent a message to learn more.
Alex, the founder of Bags Made by Bears, builds one-liter stem bags with wraparound outer mesh pockets, a drawstring closure, a 200D recycled polyester liner, and 1″ webbing attachment. Offered in Ecopak, Xpac, and Cordura options, they look ideal for hauling Nalgene bottles and some quick-access snacks, and he has them priced at just $35 or $45 each, depending on options. Given Bags Made by Bears is a side project, availability is limited, but Alex currently has a few bags available. He’s focusing on stem bags for the time being, but it sounds there’s a top tube bag in the works that will be launching in the near future.
Buy a stem bag at the freshly launched BagsMadeByBears.com or send Alex a note on Instagram.
