Aston Villa have spent much of this summer naming their price for Morgan Rogers which, in today's midfield market, is likely to break a number of records. But away from the potential of one major departure, Unai Emery also has his sights set on some incomings of his own.

Whilst the Midlands club still have SCR rules to think about, last season's Europa League win and Champions League qualification has at least eased some pressure on that front.

Whether this allows the Villans to spend big is the big question. Recent rumours have suggested that they're aiming to spend wisely rather than excessively to welcome key additions such as Ecuador star Pedro Vite.

A deal for Vite certainly makes sense on paper and the report itself comes from a local Ecuador source in El Telegrafo. The local angle suggests that there is an expert view on the player's future, but there also needs to be some caution about the reason behind the report as Vite eyes a bigger move.

In terms of finances, it's certainly an affordable deal for Aston Villa. It could even become a bargain. Reports are claiming that Vite could leave UNAM Pumas for just £9m, which is undoubtedly within the Villans' range.

If there were any concerns that Vite couldn't perform on a bigger stage, then the World Cup should have ended those doubts. The midfielder played every minute for Ecuador before they crashed out against hosts Mexico in the Round of 32.

The 24-year-old represents the relatively unknown, but his World Cup performance offered plenty of promise. It's clear from those displays that Vite would act as a screen in front of Villa's backline, having won more than five duels a game for Ecuador this summer.

There's plenty for Aston Villa and Vite to think about as the summer progresses and reports suggest that could even lead to a formal offer.

Aston Villa readying move to sign Pedro Vite

According to El Telegrafo in Ecuador, as relayed by Sport Witness, Aston Villa are now readying an official offer to sign Vite from Mexican side UNAM Pumas this summer.

Pumas reportedly value their midfielder at no less than $10m (£9m), which is an affordable price for those in the Midlands. The Villans have been impressed with the 24-year-old at the World Cup and have already contacted his club about conditions to secure his signature.

Now that Ecuador are out of the tournament, the midfielder could be one to watch as Aston Villa attempt to accelerate their move.

Why Vite could become a genius addition at Aston Villa

The midfield market is threatening to go up in flames in the Premier League. Newcastle United are demanding £100m for Sandro Tonali, Bournemouth want similar for Alex Scott and Tottenham are about to sign Mateus Fernandes from relegated West Ham for £85m. Even Villa could get in on the act, valuing Rogers at £130m.

So now is the time to go against the grain and take a risk; to unearth an unknown gem at a bargain price. And that's exactly what Vite could be after a solid World Cup.

For less than £10m, Aston Villa could land a player who proved to be a ball recovery artist for his country this summer. That alone is something worth exploring.
