After securing third place at the 2026 Tour Divide, Angus Young’s latest video shares a detailed breakdown of the bike and kit that carried him to the finish. Riding a well-used Mason Macro aluminum hardtail with more than 30,000 kilometers on the odometer, it’s clear that familiarity with his equipment was more important than having the lightest or fastest setup. He discusses everything from his electronic SRAM Transmission drivetrain and Hunt Proven Dynamo wheels to his custom Restrap frame bag, sleeping kit, and hydration strategy, reflecting on what worked, what didn’t, and what he’d change for another attempt. Despite praising the convenience of a dynamo hub for lighting and charging, one of the more interesting takeaways is that he says he’d likely forgo it in the future to save weight and reduce drag. He also notes that he’d run a larger chainring, lighten his sleep system, and perhaps spend more nights in hotels. Otherwise, he was remarkably satisfied with his setup this year, saying he wouldn’t change much after such a successful ride.
