UFC CEO Dana White will announce former two-division champion Alex Pereira’s return to the cage this weekend at UFC 332.

UFC 332 is just hours away as Natalia Silva and Wang Cong prepare to fight for the vacant UFC women’s flyweight title this Saturday. After Valentina Shevchenko vacated the belt due to an injury, Silva and Cong will look to kick off a new era in the Octagon.

Criticism of UFC 332’s fight lineup has been prevalent online, including many questioning why the promotion went with a Silva vs. Cong headliner. But the card also includes several intriguing prospects, including Ateba Gautier and Damian Pinas.

Before the Silva vs. Cong fight was announced, Jiri Prochazka was briefly linked to a potential interim light heavyweight title fight amidst Carlos Ulberg’s ongoing absence. Since Alex Pereira vacated the light heavyweight title earlier this year, the light heavyweight division has remained in a peculiar position.

During UFC 332 this weekend, Pereira’s return to heavyweight will be announced by UFC CEO Dana White after a recent social media challenge passed.

Dana White set to announce Alex Pereira’s next fight after Nina Drama challenge

After influencer Nina Drama asked White how many comments on her post she would need to get him to announce Pereira’s next fight, the UFC head answered.

“Let’s do 25,000 [comments],” White replied.

Within hours, the post gathered over 27,000 comments, and White will likely announce Pereira’s return to heavyweight this weekend.

As for potential opponents for Pereira, two possible names were eliminated from the conversation: Josh Hokit and Ciryl Gane. Gane will fight Hokit for the undisputed heavyweight title at UFC 334 after Tom Aspinall vacated the belt.

One possibility for Pereira’s next fight is Alexander Volkov, who has earned recent wins over Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Jailton Almeida. Sergei Pavlovich has also been on the sidelines in recent months.
