Abdul-Malik Olajuwon announced his commitment to SMU for the 2027 class, he told ESPN.

Olajuwon, who is the son of Hakeem Olajuwon, is ranked as the No. 57 recruit in the SC Next 100 for his class.

"Their belief in me, and their plan for me with their system, fits me very well," Olajuwon told ESPN. "They play to win, and that's my style. Coach [Andy] Enfield sees me making an impact as a freshman, playing point guard and helping on the defensive end."

Olajuwon is SMU's first commit for the 2027 class.
