I hopefully will go to watch live. First time trip to Indonesia for me.
Just a question for my first trip. Is Alipay quite common in Indonesia? How about in a place like Solo which probably has fewer tourists?
limited updates on BWF website players who are involved in the action. I.e. we don’t know who is playing.
Looks like no matches on YouTube. Saw somewhere it would be Facebook live.
Big shock in the team event with Myanmar beating singapore by four points
I’m now a convert to the scoring system used in the team matches. It was first tried out in last years World Junior Championships. Myanmar produced that unexpected win over Singapore yesterday.

Actually how does the scoring system works ? I saw that Singapore won all matches except one. So, how is it that Myanmar can beat Singapore ?
doubtful you can find anything that supports alipay in indonesia
gopay & ovo is pretty much no. 1
i think you better carry indonesian cash especially in a city like solo

It’s a cumulative points system with first team to 110 points. Singapore was leading in points scored but had a really bad game and Myanmar overcame the deficit in points. You can win more games but the goal is to win more points. That means the last match must always be played and the losing team always has a chance of catching up. If it was based on number of games won, Singapore would have won earlier and the last matches would have no meaning for both teams. With the first team to 110 points system, all players must fight as hard as possible to the end.
The team tactic would be to put your best players near the last matches as they have a better chance of catching up lots of points.

Thanks. Before I arrived, some information on the internet said Alipay was supported by some vendors. I asked in the airport but no shops took it. I thought if the airport doesn’t do it, then definitely outside doesn’t do it.
Then I had a chance thought maybe there some sort of currency control for IDR. A quick internet search confirmed it. Fortunately I had brought some cash with me for conversion.
Crazy day.
Korea beat Indonesia in quarterfinals by one point.
HK briefly had a lead against Thailand late in the quarterfinal match.
Thailand beat Korea by three points.
China was very consistent getting past Malaysia and Japan. India did put up a good fight against Japan. Watch out for India in the future.
Tomorrow’s final is China versus Thailand. China are looking so strong.

Thanks. But how come the results page, I can only see until Match 9. Are there altogether 9 matches only in a tie. For the 9th match, I see MYAMAR having 99 points ...so how did the 110 points come about ?

The website doesn’t show the tenth match.
If you use the badminton4u app, it is shown there. Something I discovered by accident. Screenshot attached.

Tanvi sharma was letdown in india's matches. Except her, everybody performed well if you see the scores

I saw your Facebook with the pictures
Some pictures from finals days.
It was a good fight by Thailand in the middle of the match. You could really feel the tension in the China team at that stage.
Interesting approaches to the finals by the two teams. Thailand are full of smiles, really relaxed, laughing.
China in contrast are tense, there to get a job done.
Met forum member huangkwokhau.
Got introduced to vice chairman of China Badminton Association. Naturally I was on my best behaviour. LOL.
